Watch: Fire inside auto body shop briefly closes Main Street in South Vancouver

Workers were standing outside when crews arrived.

Multiple fire crews responded to a first-alarm fire at an auto body shop in the 8200 block of Main Street in South Vancouver just before 2 p.m. Friday (July 14).

Workers of Penney Auto Body were standing outside the building when the trucks arrived and no one was injured, according to the Assistant Chief on-call. Crews were able to beat down the blaze relatively quickly and the fire is now out.

Main Street south of Marine was briefly blocked off by fire crews, police traffic control, a logistic support unit, and at least two battalion chiefs.

The cause of the blaze remains unknown and VFRS is currently investigating.
