Here's why you might see fireworks over in Vancouver tonight

If you hear a popping round 10 p.m. in Vancouver, this is likely that.

Vancouverites will see some fireworks tonight.

People downtown or near the Burrard Inlet Waterfront this evening may hear some explosions.

While it may coincide with the end of the Vancouver Canucks and Edmonton Oilers game, it's not related.

There's actually a private event at the Vancouver Convention Centre planning a fireworks display.

"A client will be hosting a five-minute fireworks display in Burrard Inlet on May 14 at 10 p.m. This is in accordance with Vancouver firework restrictions," states the convention centre on social media.

The convention centre doesn't share which organizations have fireworks events.

Currently there are two large events at the centre: one for neuromodulation scientists and researchers and one for the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM). Previously there have been fireworks at the convention centre when the CIM event was happening.
