'Pretty boring': Forecast for Vancouver 'very seasonal' for this week

The light showers won't be enough to get an umbrella out for

Vancouver weather will be boring this week according to one meteorologist.

If you're looking for exciting weather, Vancouver will not be the place to be this week.

With a mix of sun and cloud and a few pockets of light showers expected this week, Environment Canada meteorologist Dave Wray calls the forecast for Vancouver "pretty boring."

"The main story, if you can call it a story, is that it's fairly typical, dare I say boring,"  he says. "We're not expecting any major weather systems to come through."

Along with the lack of storms, there's not going to be any major heat or extremely sunny skies. A bit of cloud coming through and some light showers will keep things from being too warm or sunny.

"When we do get any showers it'll be just enough to get the ground wet," says Wray. "Not enough to worry getting you're umbrella out."

The highs and lows for the next week are right on the average, too, he adds. Highs are expected to be between 8 C and 11 C, while lows will bottom out around 3 C. The normal for this time of year are highs of 9 C and lows of 2 C.

"It's very seasonal," says Wray.

While the weather is becoming more spring-like, he says there's still a chance Vancouver could see a bit of winter before things warm up for good.

"Because it's still mid-February it's too early to say we're out of the woods," he tells V.I.A. "It might be cooler in seven, eight, nine, 10 days."

While the weather pattern for the next week won't bring snow to the nearby ski hills, he says there's a chance they'll get a dusting in late February.

"It looks promising for a week from now," he says.
