So... I know I post alot about the local dance and music scene, and it's because I think it's really important to support our local talent... and keep them performing here in our fair city.
You can do the same this weekend at the "For the Luv of It" conference weekend. There are two performance showcases you can go and watch at the Granville Island Stage - one for professional performers called "For the Luv of It! Pro!" (Jan 10), and one for up and coming youth performers called "For the Luv of It! Youth!" (Jan 11). You will get to see some of the best dancers, musicians and singers from Vancity - all at once!
One of the best things about the weekend is that in addition to the performances, there will be free workshops on January 10 from 1pm-5pm offered to everyone and anyone who wants to make it in the entertainment industry. Here are the guest speakers:
Chin Injeti (The Hastings Set) - How to land a record deal.
Oscar Furtado (Tandemtracks) - How to get your song on the radio.
Carla Catherwood (CMC Entertainment) - How to represent yourself as an artist and land an agent.
