Vancouver Voodoo! Roller hockey at its highest level. So obscure that it's not even on youtube. We went to a couple games back in the day... the one thing that I remember the most is that the puck had little balls on it so it would slide along the concrete surface.

The Voodoo played 4 lengthy seasons from 1993-1996, with their final season being played in GM Place. This little quote regarding their inaugural season, taken from wikipedia, nicely sums up the RHI (Roller Hockey International) League.

"In the RCI's inaugural season, Vancouver finishes first in the King Division, atop the Calgary Rad'z, Portland Rage, and Utah Rollerbees, good for second overall, behind the Anaheim Bullfrogs. In the first round of the playoffs, they are eliminated by the division rival Calgary Rad'z 8-7."

In an apparent effort to raise attendance figures (which peaked at 5,500 in 1996), the Voodoo recruited NHL star Tiger Williams to play a game with them in 1993, and he registered two points. It is unknown if any diehard fans were bummed that he was only there for one game. So far I haven't seen any petitions to bring back the RHI (if it's still around) to Vancouver  but those who attended a game will certainly have an obscure story to tell their grandchildren one day.
