INDUSTRIAL ARTIFACTS... THE "THANK YOU VANCOUVER" SALE!

Over the past 11 years, Ross Macmillan took pieces of... well, old machinery and stuff... stuff that would end up as trash or sitting somewhere being unused collecting rust, and turned it into furniture, housewares and pieces of art.

Over the past 11 years, Ross Macmillan took pieces of... well, old machinery and stuff... stuff that would end up as trash or sitting somewhere being unused collecting rust, and turned it into furniture, housewares and pieces of art. Amazingly thoughtful pieces that fill a shop in Gastown and many of his customers homes, the business is called Industrial Artifacts and you might think it's bad news that it's closing down at the end of this month, but I don't. Ross is moving on to start a new business, he did something amazing over 11 years and is moving onto something else that will likely be just as amazing.

AND... he's selling off everything he has, from completed pieces to raw artifacts!!! Here's the message I got from him, get down there if you want to take advantage of this once in a lifetime sale:

Dear Friends,

I hope you are all well. I wanted to let you know that after 11 years and thousands of historical transformations, I have decided to close Industrial Artifacts. I am currently selling off most of our remaining "finished" designs from the showroom as well as many of my raw casting patterns and artifacts from the warehouse for blow out prices.

The "Thank You Vancouver SALE " this Saturday June 27 & Sunday June 28th 10am – 6pm.

Truckload deals and artist discounts will apply!!

We will be donating 30 % of the profits from the sale to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society. Also, if possible please bring a non-perishable food item and receive a free “bonus” artifact. The GVFBS helps provide food for over 20,000 people in Greater Vancouver each week. Thanks for your support!

We are closing up the shop on June 30th. If you would like to come down and see what we have this is the last weekend!!!

Otherwise let me know if there is anything in particular you are looking for and I will be happy to send you some pictures if time permits. I'm hoping to find all of my prized artifacts good homes with people that appreciate their history and intrinsic beauty – please spread the word to people who might be interested in owning a piece of Vancouver’s industrial heritage.

Update on Ross: I have decided to make the full switch to a career in PR and Media Relations Consulting to help build more effective bridges for sustainable businesses, artists, and socially responsible organizations to communicate their messages with their audiences. I’m nearly finished my Marketing Management (in Public Relations) Program at BCIT. Lucky for me, I’m getting to spend lots of time with my daughter (Jamison) in between school and the commissions. The next few weeks will be a bit crazy with the move but I’m looking forward to the new challenges ahead. My new company, Betterway Communications and its website (www.betterwaytolive.net) will be up and running soon.

Thanks for all your support and stay tuned for more updates.

All the best!

Ross MacMillan
