beating the heat on our beaches...

You know in Van Halen's song Panama, when Diamond Dave sings "I can barely see the road from the heat coming off it..." I was really relating to that line the other day, he was really speaking to me.

You know in Van Halen's song Panama, when Diamond Dave sings "I can barely see the road from the heat coming off it..." I was really relating to that line the other day, he was really speaking to me. I can barely see my feet from all the heat around these days... it's been awesome and record setting... and it's forced us to take day trips a plenty, seeking water and shade.

The other day, we headed over to West Van to check out one of their tiny little beaches.

beach

We've been going to this beach for years, and even though I asked all the locals what this beach is called (Sandy Cove, Caulfield beach...) and no one gave me the same answer, it is a great little place. Swimming in the warmer than usual water, riding on the logs that float by... it was a great way too cool off and spend the day!

beach2

It's in a little cove and is really sheltered, good for exploring.

beach3

Staircase with railing. Good for cripples like me.

Located right off Marine Drive, near Church in the Woods (that's the one thing that everyone told me... don't know what it is...), the beach is a small staircase away from the road.
