On July 25, 2009, after more then 3 months of planning and organizing, some of West Coast's hottest MCs came out to Britannia Community Center to host a music and basketball event for East Van youth by the name of the 'The Heatwave Classic."  The name speaks for itself, as this event was initiated by local rapper Heatwave, who has been getting a lot of buzz for his passion for Vancouver, slick rhymes and open attitude.  The tournament went all day, along with a free barbecue, hip-hop show, prizes, awards and much more.  For the entire day, I mostly worked the grill and my camera.  Along with my participation and that of Amalia Jude, Andrea Dobbs and Heatwave, we also have to thank More Sports for sponsoring this event and our friends at Starbucks, DIPT and Killawatt Records.  Due to the success of this event, plans will be made to organize another one for next year. You can see more photos from the event here.
