On our way to check out the Museum of Vancouver this past weekend, my friend and I decided to stop and have lunch in the Main Street/Mount Pleasant/SoMa neighbourhood. Between the car and the restaurant, we took shelter from the rain by ducking into one of the newer vintage shops in the city, F as in Frank (2425 Main St.) What a fruitful detour that turned out to be! Here are the highlights of what we found...
Well hello, NBA-Endorsed Vancouver Grizzlies Barbie! A piece of our city's history! Ladies and gentlemen, she still needs a good home!
Vintage LA Gear kicks, in near deadstock condition! Still featuring the "Air System" - before they got sued by Nike and switched to the "Catapult" and sorta-ubiquitous, blinking "LA Lights" technologies in later models!
Ok not so awesome, but so bad it's good in some ways. Can't wait to see if HBC (Hudson's Bay Company) drew inspiration from this vintage design for Team Canada's 2010 Winter Olympics uniforms!
And finally, another pair of LA Gear sneakers... This time something truly fashionable for the ladies - in absolutely pristine, deadstock condition! Run, don't walk... These babies won't last long!
