PEAK PERFORMANCE PROJECT - BEND SINISTER

The PEAK Performance Project is a seven-year, 5.29 million dollar contest open to all musicians in British Columbia. The project was created by Vancouver's very own 100.5 The PEAK and Music BC to develop BC based emerging artists.

Every year, twenty finalists from BC will receive an intensive, one week training program in the music business, live performance, songwriting, marketing and promotion. From these, the top three will be crowned as the PEAK Performers of the year and will share $275,000 in cash for career development!

Who's your favorite artist(s) in the Peak Performance Project and why?

I'd have to say Adrian Glynn. He was a really quiet guy and I [Dan Moxon] didn't get to know him as well as some of the other folks, but when he came out on stage he brought an amazing energy. It was a captivating set and I think it was one of those moments that touched everyone who was there.

What was the most valuable thing you took away from Boot Camp?

I'd say that bootcamp helped ground me a little. I was managing our band for many years and for the last year or so we've had a label and publicist, booking agent, internet marketing fellow and a management team. When you have all these people working for you, you tend to forget that there is still a ton of things you can be doing yourself to benefit the band. No matter what sort of team you have working for you, you should still be focused as much on the business side of your career as your creativity, otherwise I don't think you'll have much of a career.

What is one thing you wish you brought to Boot Camp, but didn’t?

I wish I brought some more cds and things to give away to all the bands and faculty, but we only had 4 left in our inventory...

What’s your favorite venue to play at in BC?

My favorite BC venue would have to be the Biltmore right now. It is always a great place to play shows.

Where is your favorite hangout in Vancouver?

One of my favorite Vancouver hangouts is the Brickhouse on Main by the viaduct... or one of the many restraunts around Main and Broadway... oh yeah and Sushiyama across from the Kingsgate mall on Broadway is the best cheap but quality sushi in town!

If you win the grand prize, what are you going to put the money towards?

If we won one the the prizes it would be huge! I definitely want to get back in the studio to record a new record but the main focus I think with the money would be probably touring Canada and breaking into the USA and going non stop for 4 months or so. When you can actually pay yourself to be on the road it makes a huge difference and we would be able to afford to pay rent at home and be away for more than a month at a time. These prizes are huge!
