W2 Community Media Arts is excited to present a solo exhibition and holiday event by Vancouver’s most prolific street artist, Ken Foster, December 17-31 at W2 Perel Gallery. In addition to showcasing his work, Ken Foster’s Punk Rock Xmas will be supported by performances from local punk rockers.

Ken Foster’s Punk Rock Xmas is a rare solo exhibition in Foster’s 18-year career selling work to visitors of Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside (DTES). Known for creating original paintings using found materials and hiding the abundance of his creativity in the alleyways of the DTES, Foster’s pieces are some of Vancouver’s most recognized and widely collected. His work is often more complex than meets the eye, with subtle layers depicting multiple worlds on salvaged objects that carry the energy of their former existence into his creative process.

Please RSVP at the FB event page.

W2 is a world-class community media arts centre in Vancouver’s DTES opening in Spring 2010. W2 will feature a 150-capacity performance space, community TV studio, FM radio station, gallery, social enterprise café, letterpress studio, telepresence and mobile media programs.

Until its official opening in Spring 2010 in the Woodward’s building, W2 Media Arts Centre is running programs, media arts residencies, and special events in the Perel Gallery at 112 W Hastings in Vancouver. Past events have included Hot One Inch Action and Paper Tigers.
