Every year the BC Book Prizes holds a fundraising soirée to serve as the launch for the Author Tour program and to introduce the finalists to members of the public—and to each other. Featuring appetizers by O’Douls, an amazing silent auction and, of course, many members of Vancouver’s literary community in attendance, this free public event, hosted by Todd Wong is a great opportunity for you to meet the finalists and have books signed by the authors. In addition, this year’s recepient of the Lieutenant Governor’s Award for Literary Excellence will be announced at the soirée.
Proceeds raised from the silent auction will support the BC Book Prizes On Tour program which takes finalist authors to schools, libraries and bookstores around the province. This year’s touring authors include Kristin Butcher, Michael Turner, Kari-Lynn Winters and Cathleen With taking a road trip up north, Sylvia Olsen and Fred Wah touring southern BC, and Fiona Bayrock and Ehor Boywanowsky touring the Okanagan and southern Vancouver Island.
