Isn't it Romantic?

Bif Naked gets romantic.

If you have yet to see a film at the fabulous Vancouver International Film Center, you're missing out. If you have seen one there before, then you know what I'm talking about. Besides having an absolutely stellar programming schedule, the VIFC is easily Vancouver's most lushly posh screening facility - the seats are more comfortable than anything in my apartment. If I could move in there, I would. In fact, Slovakia liked it so much that over the Olympics, that's exactly what they did...

Stoked After “True Romance,” Bif Hi-5’d EVERYBODY

Stoked after True Romance, Bif Hi-5d everybody

The Quentin Tarantino-penned cult classic True Romance was on last night's marquis as part of the VIFC's über-cool monthly Cinema Salon series, in which a distinguished guest (such as the esteemed Vancouver songstress) present their favourite films.

“You are so cool, you are so cool, you are so cool …”.

"You are so cool, you are so cool, you are so cool ...".

The film (in glorious 35 mm!) was introduced by Cinema Salon programmer Melanie Friessen before Bif took to the podium to say a few words about how she loved True Romance and how much it meant to her. Miss Naked was quite candid about her appreciation for the overall romantic sensibility of the otherwise action-packed film. It was truly endearing (dare I say - kinda cute?) to hear her speak from the heart about how much she related to and truly adored Patricia Arquette's turn as call-girl-turned-newlywed Alabama, and how the name itself had at one time made it onto her "short-list of baby-names." More discussion of the film and some fan photos followed post-viewing, and there were even refreshments (mini quiche!) to be had in the swank lounge.
