One of our newest contributors, Kim Werker, has started a most awesome project out of Vancouver. It's called Mighty Ugly and essentially it's an invitation to get creative while putting aside any notion of producing something that is aesthetically pleasing in the least.

Pictured below is Shoshana, the Mighty Ugly mascot. He pretty much sums up what the project is about, visit MightyUgly.com to get the lowdown and to participate in the challenge!

Oh, and HERE is a clip of Kim talking about the project on CBC News on Friday!

The official word:

Since we're able to wield a crayon, we're praised for making pretty pictures. And once we reach an age when we can assess the aesthetic value of things, we begin to judge our ability to create pretty things – and we often judge harshly. So harshly that we ditch hobbies we used to enjoy, we put down our crayons, we insult our creativity. To all that, Mighty Ugly says, "HOGWASH." Sit yourself down and put your all into making something ugly. Hideous. Revolting. What happens if you fail? Beauty? Feel the freedom. Giggle. Send us photos.
