Did you know that the Vancouver International Children's Festival is the oldest and largest outdoor children's festival? It’s been around since 1978 and has been emulated throughout North America and beyond. Cass and I went this morning and it was a great time.

First we sang a song about popcorn with Ruffle Redbird. Cass played along on the tambourine.

Then we ducked into the preschool play tent. With a dress-up area, a popular water table and A BUNCH of other activities, we probably could have stayed there all morning. Once I finally dragged Cass away from the puzzles (thanks to some face-painting bribery), we did some alligator chomping with Chris Hamilton.

We chased bubbles and saw some jugglers and a stilt walker.

Cass was fascinated by the Wild Moccasin Dancers.

Before we knew it the morning was over and it was time for the Charlotte Diamond show, which, of course, was wonderful. I’ll be singing “Four Hugs a Day” for the rest of the weekend.

A few hours were enough for my three year-old. After the show she was ready to head home for a nice long nap, so we missed out on the giant sandbox and the cool crafts. Maybe next year!
