The DIY scene in town's getting a little shinier with today's grand opening of the long-in-development Spool of Thread sewing lounge. Owners Lili Nedved and Henry Sinha have been sprucing up their new East Van storefront for months and months, and today they fling their doors open for a celebration with treats and giveaways all day. Drop by between 11am and 6pm today, at Fraser and Kingsway (649 E. 15th Ave.). Check out their site for their June class schedule and for more info on the "sewing lounge" part of their business – they have sewing machines available for use by the hour.
