I would never claim to be a hiker, I take the dog for a walk in the woods all the time, used to do the Grouse Grind alot, to me though that doesn't make me a hiker, that just makes me a pretty typical Vancouverite.
A few weeks back, I was looking for a good excuse to spend some time in Deep Cove, I hate driving all that way for just a donut, so I did some poking around on VANCOUVER TRAILS website and came across Quarry Rock! This was perfect for a novice hiker like me....it's pretty lightweight. Just enough hiking to work up an appetite.
I think it took me about an hour to get to the top and an hour down, it wasn't too steep. The view was well worth the hike, I often look at the north shore from Norburn or into Coquitlam, so it was cool to check it from the other side. The trail was pretty well travelled, I was warned a couple times over about a friendly bear but never got to see the little guy.
If you've never been to Deep Cove before, you should really check it out, it's closer than you think and it's the North Shore of the North Shore....
