Welcome to The Playground, a place for Vancouver parents and their awesome kids. Every Wednesday I post a roundup of upcoming family-friendly events and activities. I’m always on the lookout for fun stuff to do, so if there’s something happening that you think I should know about, contact me at theplayground@vancouverisawesome.com. Because Vancouver is awesome for kids too!

In The Playground for the week of September 8-14: West End Fest, Walk for the Kitties, Toons for Toddlers, Davie Day, Mexico Fest, Oakridge Block Party, Coho Festival, Southlands Country Fair and more.

But first, a call to all readers who love kids, love Vancouver and want to get involved with a truly awesome community! I'm looking for someone to take over as editor of The Playground. I recently returned to work after three years at home with my daughter and I'm finding it hard to stay on top of all my commitments. I'll be writing The Playground until the end of this month. After that, I hope to pass it on to another passionate and active parent. If you're interested, drop me a line at theplayground@vancouverisawesome.com

Now, here are some fun things to do with the kids this week:
