GREENDAY AT THE NAPPY DUGOUT!

In reading Rachel's Bif Naked posts last week, I remembered seeing her band Gorilla Gorilla play at PD's Hotshop back when it was on Pender Street.

In reading Rachel's Bif Naked posts last week, I remembered seeing her band Gorilla Gorilla play at PD's Hotshop back when it was on Pender Street.  Of course that led me to reminiscing of the Nappy Dugout, which PD described in his most awesome interview as a space on Seymour street which between 92-93 was used to hold all ages shows.  I then noticed  this on Skull Skate's website and couldn't resist posting it here.  It's funny watching this video because there can't more than a couple hundred people there, if that, and it's one of those gigs that everyone, including myself, claim to have been at.  I've seen Green Day a couple times since then in Vancouver, and they always reference the Nappy Dugout show.

I thought I'd see if it was still there, and after wandering around Seymour St. I realized....

That I had lived next to it for almost ten years.....It's weird looking at it now, because over the years Seymour has been claimed by Yaletown (did wonders for my condo).  Back then though, it was a 'dead zone', which made it great for jam spaces, clubs, and prostitution.  Today though, the space caters to people with nice cars who like them to be really clean.

I wonder if they know this is where it all went down....Hey does anyone out there have any Rancid at the NFA Blockbuster Jam in Yaletown footage?  Fugazi at the North Van rec center?

Here's a bunch more bootlegs of the show.
