As the summer has now come to a close (I hold onto it until mid September always) I've been doing some reflecting lately, thinking back fondly on memories of being out in the sun, outdoor festivals, leaving the house safely in a t-shirt (without an emergency rain layer in my bag) and of course the fireworks which were such a highlight as they are year after year. If you're new you might not know that I was one of the JUDGES of the 2010 Celebration Of Light (congrats again, Spain!) so this year it was especially memorable for me. It was also memorable for some of the friends that I brought, as each night we were allowed to bring a guest to the Boathouse where we ate dinner before the fireworks then deliberated afterwards. Seen below are Jef Choy and Cameron Macleod, respectively chillin' with the RCMP escorts who made sure the judges made it there and back each night.

See the badge with two guns crossed on her sleeve? Only sharpshooters get those, don't mess around!

I meant to ask what that white string around their necks was, or maybe I did but I forgot because my mind was dazzled by the lights in the sky. Anybody know?
