Thar She Blows! @ScissorSisters @ The Malkin Bowl

Twas a cold and stormy Thursday night that thee Scissor Sisters cautiously took to a slick stage at The Malkin Bowl to rock the proverbial soaked socks off an entirely drenched crowd. Despite it all, I still felt like dancing.

Twas a cold and stormy Thursday night that thee Scissor Sisters cautiously took to a slick stage at The Malkin Bowl to rock the proverbial soaked socks off an entirely drenched crowd. Despite it all, I still felt like dancing.  Argh!

Turn on your speakers. Dance break Monday!

The Sisters were wrapping up the North American leg of their tour in support of their latest release, Night Work. They started out looking ferosh onstage in high heels and leather fishnet unitards, but by the end of it all both Mr Jake Shears and Ms Ana Matronic were forced into more Pacific Northwest-appropriate attire - big giant North Face jackets. "You don't want to catch pneumonia!" said Jake.

Jake Shears: "This rain sucks balls!"

Ms Matronic was quick to lament the physical inadequacies of the Malkin Bowl (a venue with a major "design flaw" - the roof that doesn't entirely cover the stage) and the logic behind the whole outdoor-concert-in-the rain-in-September-in Vancouver thing. At one point she declared that the next time she came to Vancouver she'd play either inside or build the Malkin a roof herself. "This is a motherf**king ark up in here ... this sh*t is biblical! But like Thelma & Louise we are going all the way to the end!" Jake did praise the impressive size of the rats backstage, claiming that they were on par with those in New York City. New York City!

Since Ana Matronic is a "real Pacific Northwest Sister" (she's from Portland) and Jake grew up in Seattle, they had the mojo to slaughter the show in spite of the rain. They remained high-energy throughout and sounded fa-bu-lous! Even under a parka, Ana Matronic looked hot as all hell, saying "That's more like it. Now I'm a real Pacific Northwest Scissor Sister!" Jake cocked his head and replied, "Yeah... but you're a total lipstick lesbian."

The laser light show looked cool in the rain. Take that, outdoor concerts in the desert!
