This past week I saw Sunny Pompeii (a band which features Spencer Schoening of Said the Whale on lead vocals) with Rec Centre (a new project from Alex Hudson) and Troll Fingers opening. Wednesday I caught Matt Epp with part of his new band, the Amorian Assembly at the Media Club. Thursday was the second Peak Performance Showcase, and Saturday I finally got to see my friends in Kilmore Place perform live at their CD release show for ...What Happened?.
I finished up the weekend with a free outdoor show from Said the Whale at Third Beach in Stanley Park. Said the Whale will be playing an all ages show on October 18th with all of the proceeds going to Musicounts. Keep an eye on their blog and Twitter for details and ticket info.
THIS WEEK IN MUSIC: This week I'll be taking it easy until Thursday (and by "taking it easy" I mean "going to class") when I'll be seeing the third of five Peak Performance Showcases (featuring Christina Maria, 41st and Home, Ben Sigston, and Adaline). If I can I'll be running to five sixty to see Shout Out Out Out as part of the Olio Festival (I would also be catching the Raccoons at five sixty, but it overlaps with the PPP Showcase). Friday is dedicated to Olio Fest: I'll be starting early with Raincity Chronicles at the Anza, then heading over to the Rickshaw for Ghostkeeper and Chad Vangaalen, and finishing up the night at the China Cloud with Analog Bell Service. Saturday will be comparatively chill with the Wooden Sky with Yukon Blonde at the Biltmore..
