- This week there are some great art shows opening around Vancouver. The Monte Clark Gallery is having a beautiful duo show featuring new paintings by Holger Kalberg & Kristine Moran.

- Holger Kalberg and Kristine Moran both examine the slippery border between imagery and abstraction: Kalberg's paintings purposely hovering on the edge of representation, Moran's dissolving and re-creating morphing subjects. While Moran’s subjects are lush and gestural and Kalberg’s are hard edged, both artists float subjects on planes or backdrops, grounding each abstract shape or form in what appears to be a semi-real environment. The result is an exhibition of mysterious subjects within surreal landscapes.
