Behind Vancouver Is Awesome's print magazine - spread #7

By now I hope you've either picked up a printed copy of the joint issue of the magazine that we did with Discorder from one of the many LOCATIONS that stock it or you've DOWNLOADED the PDF from us for FREE.

By now I hope you've either picked up a printed copy of the joint issue of the magazine that we did with Discorder from one of the many LOCATIONS that stock it or you've DOWNLOADED the PDF from us for FREE. Over the next couple of weeks I'm going to bring you an inside look behind each and every spread.

Seventh up is a spread containing a few subjects. The first page, on the left, is the "fashion editorial" feature that Christine McAvoy did. She didn't want to do another standard "cool kids wearing cool clothes" so she figured she'd put a Dogtown meets Van City Kitty spin on it. She styled the models with pieces from stores such as F As In Frank and Hip Baby and we love how it turned out.

On the facing page is the Flickr image from our Flickr Pool that we chose as the single best photo of the entire year. Christine, Dano Pendygrasse and myself deliberated on a number of images that had been nominated by members of the pool and after a heated debate we landed on this one. I don't need to tell you that it's totally awesome.

Below the Flickn Awesome photo is one of the most interesting Fred Herzog photos of Vancouver, which Equinox Gallery gave us permission to use. I see it as a reflection of what the Flickr Pool is helping to foster: the Fred Herzogs of tomorrow!

BONUS! Here's a shot of Karen Pinchin and her dog, Luca, getting suited up for the shoot...
