Every day we share a single photo from our Flickr Pool shot by one of our faithful and talented readers (that’s you!).
I’ve had my eye on today’s photo for a few days now – I just find it a really beautiful image. Love Birds from Billy Jaye is the result of some steady hands, a long lens and certain degree of patience displayed by the photographer during a visit to the Bloedel Conservatory at Queen Elizabeth Park. I’m no expert on Macaws, but National Geographic’s website tells me that they “typically mate for life” and “enjoy mutual grooming.” If we allow ourselves to be guilty of a little anthropomorphism, we can easily imagine this to be a tender moment between two mates. It’s infinitely more romantic this way.
Speaking of the Bloedel Conservatory, I am relieved that it will remain open. Established in 1969, we are very lucky to have it in Vancouver, and we came so, so close to losing it. I’ve put another visit on my list of things to do and see in Vancouver in 2011.
