Anyone who is familiar with my own photography already knows that I have an affinity for the port and port facilities of Vancouver. I can't count how many hours or rolls of film I've spent lurking around the industrial waterfront with cameras in tow, looking for something that I haven't yet seen before. But at the end of the day, it's an environment that I enjoy, and the sights, the smells and the sounds there offer me solitude. So in that respect, it's never a wasted trip.

So, having said that, I present to you today a photograph by Warren Hickman, titled Harbour B&W .

And even though I've never taken a photograph from the deck of the Ironworker's Memorial Bridge, I'd like to share with you a little gem of a spot called Harbourview Park. Just outside the right-hand edge of the frame is a lookout platform accessed by Harbourview Park. Cross the bridge into North Van and take the Main Street exit. Take Main Street west and turn left on Harbourview Avenue and follow the signs. There is a path that runs along Lynn Creek to its mouth and it is here that you will find the lookout.

Watch your step though - although the park itself is small, it is very popular with dog-walkers and geese. It can get rather, erm, slippery.
