I had heard a lot of talk about some special moon phenomenon that we were supposed to be treated to last night - something about the moon's closest orbit of the Earth in 18 years. Typically the moon's distance to the Earth is 364,397 kilometers, but last night the lunar perigee brought the moon to a near-claustrophobic 356,577 kilometers away. That's almost 2% closer - I even saw a really tall guy duck on one occasion last night!

But honestly, I did catch a glimpse of the moon when it was barely above the horizon and it was enormous, and I therefore checked in with it throughout the evening. And while I'm interested in any full moon that coincides with a clear night, Devlon Duthie managed a great degree of detail in a photograph that serves to explain why "that's no moon" ... it's a 'super-moon'.
