|Skateboard culture is deeply rooted in this fine city of ours. Not only does Metro Vancouver produce some of the world’s finest wood-wheelers, it’s also a major migratory destination for skaters from all over Canada. The Weekly Ledge(r) exists to update you on skate-related news and happenings in our town. Know the ledge, it’s not just used for sitting…|
Back in October 2010, DC Canada’s “Pop-Up Tour” of Ontario and Quebec went down. It’s featured in the recently-released video (above) and in the Spring issue of SBC Skateboard (be sure to pick it up on newsstands). Metro Van’s Sascha Daley, Micky Papa, Ryan Oughton, Paul Trep and Chad Dickson were amongst the tour’s roster.
It appeared that Week 30 of the Ledge(r) was in fact Barrier Kult Week. Vancouver’s Most Evil masked men held a Black Mass at Leeside on March 18th to celebrate the release of their second Emerica collaborative shoe. On top of that, Emerica posted this hidden BA.KU. part that appeared in the shoe brand’s epic Stay Gold video. Last but not least, Bones Wheels posted this commercial featuring their spherical collabo with the Kult.
Vancouver’s Kyu Tae Kim has been testing out his Sony HXR-NX5U HD camera at some local parks during the Ledge(r)-approved weather that’s been happening lately. Check out this Bonsor sesh and this Plaza edit. Speaking of the Plaz, local skater/rapper Terell Safadi hooked up a familiar-sounding Vancouver Canucks tribute song and video, which was filmed at the Plaza and nearby Rogers Arena. Check out the canucks.com story.
Lets close out #30 with some Spring fun. The Krooked Krooze-In Jam & BBQ was postponed twice due to bunk weather, but it came to life on Mar.20th and was well-worth the wait:
