Skateboard culture is deeply rooted in this fine city of ours. Not only does Metro Vancouver produce some of the world’s finest wood-wheelers, it’s also a major migratory destination for skaters from all over Canada. The Weekly Ledge(r) exists to update you on skate-related news and happenings in our town. Know the ledge, it’s not just used for sitting…

It’s a Good Friday indeed. As mentioned in Ledge(r) #33, Concrete Skateboarding magazine released Issue 112, and earlier this week they released a commercial to go with it.

East Van resident and SUPRA Footwear AM Spencer Hamilton customized a shoe in their Three Amigos pack, which you can check out right here. In joining-the-team news, Magnus Hanson and Bradley Sheppard are on Quiksilver Canada (and SBC Skateboard posted a “3-Minutes…” video where Bradley chats about that and more…). In skatepark news, you’ll find a comprehensive feature right here about everyone’s new favourite: Queensborough in New West.

As for events, the Vancouver premiere of The Deuce from Montreal’s Dimestore Crew is happening tonight at Fortune (doors at 9, video at 10pm) as part of their Happy Ending Fridays. The first stop of this year’s Street League is happening in Seattle on May 7-8. V.I.A. contributor Jef Choy will be attending and providing us with an exclusive report from the arena-based street skating series that features 24 top pros competing for a 1.6 million dollar purse during the 4-stop season.

In the vid department, Concrete Issue 112 cover guy Ian Twa took part in a Puerto Rico trip earlier this year with his Chicago-based board sponsor, Affiliate, and this link will bring you to the video. Paul Machnau handles an ad deadline for Dakine in Palm Springs while Sean Lowe, Chad Dickson and Caleb Davies tackle Kensington’s perimeter (hit mute if you can’t handle harsh rap lyrics). As a solid closer, here’s Don’t Sleep Productions’ entry to the 72hr. Filmmaker Showdown at the Telus Festival in Whis. It’s called Squambladesh and it’s awesome:
