Every day we share a single photo from our Flickr Pool shot by one of our faithful and talented readers (that’s you!).

"Op de eerste Mei leggen de vogeltjes een ei."

I saw this Dutch phrase on Facebook the other day and it made me smile. The person who posted it said it was a Flemish expression that translates literally into "On the first of May the birds lay an egg." The reason I smiled is because just last week I switched over to my summer walking-home-from-the-bus-stop route - which passes a protected creek where Canada Geese and ducks raise their young - from my winter route, which is a little shorter and slightly more direct, but bypasses the creek area entirely.

Which brings us to today's photograph magic hour on the marsh courtesy of Jan Gates. In the caption to her photo Jan describes a scene of 'crazy bird activity' at Jericho Beach Park this past Sunday - the first of May. If the Flemish saying above is accurate, it could go a long way to describe said crazy bird activity.

If this was along my way home from work I would walk through this park every day.
