In the days leading up I shared some of the best of the collectibles that I've managed to procure over the years thanks to Ebay, Craigslist and other ways like trading and the simple good will of people who have donated their Expo 86 stuff to my shelf in order to make me smile (I never got to visit Expo, ya know).
In this last post I'm sharing the crown jewel of all Expo 86 collectibles, which somehow it's been rumoured that I personally own. I wish I did but I don't! Only in my wildest dreams would I ever be able to own this incredible piece of history. It is, in fact, owned by real estate mogul and art collector, Bob Rennie, and I was fortunate enough to pay him a visit a few weeks back in the basement of the Rennie Gallery which is one block away from the V.I.A. office in Chinatown!
Ernie is now not only a collectible but a piece of fine art. He was dug up by artist, Jeremy Shaw, who included him as a part of his Something's Happening Here series of works which we'll be showcasing tonight at our party. We won't have Ernie there but we will have every piece in the limited edition series of prints produced.
