You learn something every day. That's what they tell me, anyway, and I tend to believe it. What I learned today, however, is that a certain Flemish expression about birds laying their eggs on the first of May doesn't really apply to the unofficial national bird of Canada, the Canada Goose. And really, I shouldn't be too surprised as the Canada Goose lays its eggs in Canada, and not the Netherlands. But I digress.

The reason I bring this up today because the ever-prolific Clayton Perry shares with us photographic evidence from the Reifel Bird Sanctuary taken yesterday that reveals that indeed, the goslings have hatched. Considering that the incubation period of the eggs is between 24 to 28 days, the eggs could not have been laid (layed?), as the afore-mentioned Flemish expression would lead you to believe, on the first of May. But no matter, they are cute as heck and learning to swim as we speak. From Mr. Perry, here is All in the Family.
