Diva La Revolution of the Bad Reps and D.A. DaRuckus of the Riot Girls collide in the pack

TCRG’s Riot Girls are taking on The Tide Pool, a newly assembled B-Team representing Tacoma’s Dockyard Derby Dames. Dockyard’s A-Team, the Wave of Mutilation, has had a run of back luck recently, losing to the Silicon Valley Roller Girls and Santa Cruz at Wild West Showdown back in March, then to the Bellingham Roller Betties in May. It will be interesting to see if this B-team fares better on the road then their A-Team counterparts, but they won’t if the Riot Girls have anything to say about it. Despite some struggles with a rotating roster and injury trouble, the Riot Girls have been training hard and are hungry for their first win at home this season.

Three-time TCRG league champs, the Bad Reputations, will then be facing off against the Taco Kickers from Everett, Washington, who -- if the Ouch Gallery on their website is any indication -- can take punishment just much as their team name suggests they can dish it out. The Taco Kickers are an independent mix of rookies and veterans who come together only to play on the road, so their wily, gypsy ways could either be help or a hindrance against the champs. Some of the Bad Reps’ star players are also nursing injuries, but their bench is so deep and experienced that it would be easy to give the “star” title to any one of their players.

Sure, there isn’t a big, shiny trophy up for grabs in this Vancouver sports event, but the speed will be serious and the hits will be as big as any hockey game. Plus, tickets are actually affordable – under $25 at the door, and only $17 if you pre-buy. Pre-sale tickets are available at Flaming Angels (4307 Main St.) or online at Ticketmaster. Some service fees may apply.

Bad Reps' jammer Canadian Bacon slides out in front of some Riot Girls blockers

After last month’s bout rocked the Forum, with the Terminal City All-Stars pummeling the Heartless Heathers from Portland (and breaking a Canadian roller derby record in the process), Saturday’s double-header could threaten the historic building’s very foundation. Be there to witness the mayhem!
