In The Playground for the week of June 22-28: a Harry Potter Movie Marathon, Dancers of Damelahamid, MEC Bikefest Vancouver, the National Aboriginal Awareness Celebration and Carnaval del Sol 2011.

The final movie in the Harry Potter series is coming soon and to mark the occasion the Vancouver Public Library is hosting a multi-day marathon. It's free and kicks off tonight with Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. 7:30-9:30PM, Alice MacKay Room, Lower Level, Central Library.

This Saturday, ArtStarts is hosting two, free workshops with the Dancers of Damelahamid. "Learn traditional dances from the Gitksan and Cree lineages when members of this First Nations dance collective bring their captivating stories, songs and dance to ArtStarts". 11AM & 1PM, 808 Richards Street.

This Saturday, MEC is hosting the Vancouver edition of their Bikefest from 10AM-4PM at the village in False Creek. The event is free and features all kinds of activities including: parent-child maintenance workshops, trips for kids, a stunt show and BMX demo.

Canada Place and the Aboriginal Tourism Association of BC are hosting a National Aboriginal Awareness Celebration this Sunday from 12-4PM. Entertainers include George Taylor & the Le-La-La Dancers, the Git Hayetsk Dancers and 3-time World Champion Hoop Dancer Alex Wells. If you've never seen a hoop dance, you should check it out.

Also on Sunday is the Carnaval del Sol 2011, a Latin American festival on Grenville street between Smithe and Dunsmuir. Events include a street soccer tournament features folks from the Whitecaps FC and mayor Gregor Robertson, salsa zumba dancing, musical performances and plenty of food. 10AM-10PM.
