Tomorrow night Canada takes to the sky in the final night of this summer's Celebration of Light Battle of the Champions! I was so honoured to be asked back as a judge of the fireworks competition this year, rounding out the panel made up of folks from all different neighbourhoods, backgrounds and professions. We're meant to represent the eyes and ears of you, the residents of Vancouver, and we are (from left to right in this photo below):
Shannon Reykdal who won the Shore 104.3FM listener contest to become a judge (!!!), Bev Wake from the Vancouver Sun, Erin Maloney from The Keg, Lara Gerrits from YVR Airport Authority, myself from V.I.A., Bob Underhill from the RCMP (our escort, not a judge), City of Vancouver councillor Raymond Louie, pyrotechnic producer Patrick Brault (also not a judge, he answers our technical questions and gives us insight on each night's show), Jill Krop from Global BC (the longstanding Head Judge!) and Matt Meehan from Concord Pacific.
The judging panel is a little different this year, and so is the score sheet. See THIS POST from 2010 for a list of last year's judges along with a look at what the score sheet looked like. Then take a look at the new one that we'll be filling in on Saturday night... heck, maybe even fill it out yourself for all 3 nights (cross out CANADA on this one and put in SPAIN and CHINA for the other nights) and send us your tally?
