UNPLUGGED Flickr Pickr: Our Silhouettes

LOCATION: Tsusiat Falls Camp Site on the West Coast Trail ( Click for map ) It has been an awesome summer.

It has been an awesome summer.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think that it's anywhere near over (I spent ten years living in Scotland where what we called summer consisted of maybe three days of double-digit-degrees where the entire population dusted off their one shorts & t-shirt outfit and headed outdoors for the first time that year to turn their pallid grey 'Scottish Tans' into a bright red 'I-have-no-idea-how-to-handle-this-bright-thing-in-the-sky' burn), the sun is still shining, I will be overly warm when I go outside and I don't intend to retire the Birks for at least another month.

On a personal level, this summer has brought so much amazing change...I have finally started taking better care of myself, I've been Crossfitting and eating Paleo for a couple of months now and have never felt better. About the same time that I started taking care of my body, it started growing a new one...I am now just over two and a half months pregnant and ludicrously happy about it! My other half spent the summer training to be a paramedic and it seems that he has found his calling...the future's looking good.

So, as we look forward to all of the amazing, exciting, scary hard work and great times ahead, standing here at the edge of seasons is the perfect time to look back on all of the awesome things we've already experienced and Our Silhouettes by Jayme Jennifer Photography is the perfect image to represent this. Not only would Jayme have had to have trekked the West Coast Trail and still muster the stregnth to operate a camera in order to make this, she managed to describe a great moment of quiet reflection by using the stunning available light and colours to create a really meaningful and beautiful image. Thanks Jayme.

Please take the time to check out Jayme's website as well!

Are you noticing any seasonal changes happening already? People wearing toques? Leaves changing colours? Tiny apartment dogs wearing coats? Flocks of crows flying over East Van? Shoot these changes and post them, next weeks Pickr will have an Autumn theme.

There was a lot of amazing photography in the pool this week folks, please keep posting and spreading the word about the Unplugged Flickr Pickr.

Our silhouettes

It’s that point in your consciousness where you can feel at one with nature, escaping the trappings of the day-to-day to an almost dream-like place where nothing else seems to exist besides you and your natural surroundings. It is our opinion here at VIA that Vancouver holds a unique place in the civilized world in that reaching this state often requires no more effort than simply pulling off to the side of the road, pocketing your keys and taking a few steps into the forest
