sceneandheard SCENE AND HEARD showcases the independent music scene here in Vancouver. We interview some of our favourite local artists, post weekly guest playlists comprised of Vancouver artists and ‘Last Week in Music’ highlights some of the concerts happening around the city...

So last week I was once again at the Red Room for another awesome Peak show, and the only other show I caught was a BRILLIANT performance by Dan Mangan at the CBC (which will be replayed soon and podcasted!)

THIS WEEK IN MUSIC: is insane. Like actually insane. It starts tonight at the Biltmore with The Belle Game, and Aidan Knight opening up for Karkwa. Wednesday Hollerado is coming back to town! Party at Venue! or if you're looking for something mellow - Redbird is performing at Falconetti's. Thursday I'm back at the Red Room for The Oh Wells, Ashleigh Eymann, Sex With Strangers, and The Boom Booms. Thursday also marks the beginning of Rifflandia AND the Olio Festivals - check those links for schedules, but on Thursday: Library Voices (w/ the Provincial Archive and Dinosaur Bones) at the Biltmore, and The Coppertone @ the Railway, David Vertesi/The Evaporators at Joe's Apt. Friday I am 100% going to be at the Biltmore for Ladyhawk! but if you can't get in there, try Braids at the Electric Owl (or both if you try really hard!) SATURDAY! Dan Mangan is playing a secret/free show for the Peak - click to find out more. Later...another installment of Rain City Chronicles that you shouldn't miss at Wise Hall! Right after that (same venue) Prairie Cat, Malajube, and The Besnard Lakes - also that night, Broken Social Scene at the Malkin Bowl - Teen Daze, and Sun Wizard at the Cobalt.
