One of the goals of the funny people behind GIANTS is to find the most creative, innovative minds in town and give them a grand canvas to create on in the Vancity Culture Lab at The Cultch. No one fits that bill better than Emmett Hall, whom we INTERVIEWED a few months back. Favourite of the long-running HERO SHOW, a headliner at alternative comedy nights galore, and lead singer-songwriter for comedy metal band Knights of the Night, Hall crafts comedy that is as memorable as it is hilarious.
The GIANTS producers have managed an absolute coup for their series of late night comedy events by locking in Hall for six editions of his brilliant News Around Now segment. In it, Hall plays anchor, reporter, weatherman, special interest journalist, and any other character needed to complete his one-man absurdist news program.
Having debuted the character/bit in 2009, Hall has since completed several editions of the crowd favourite, and will create all-new shows for each of the six GIANTS shows this season.
