Remember when we announced a while back that VIA and Media Democracy Day were teaming up once again to bring you a fantastic evening of local music and fun? Well we thought we’d introduce you to the lovely bands that’ll be serenading your ear holes on October 20th at Amplify! A Fundraiser for Media Democracy Days 2011. Today’s guest: THE BELLE GAME

The Belle Game are a seven-piece band from Vancouver, B.C., whose layered instrumentation, shared female/male vocals, and dynamic orchestration have sparked comparisons to fellow Canadian artists such as Feist, The New Pornographers and Arcade Fire. Throughout 2010 and 2011 the band shared stages with up-and-coming indie stars, Aidan Knight, We Are The City, The Balconies, and Olenka and the Autumn Lovers, as well as festival performances alongside international legends, Weezer, Metric and Black Mountain. Currently, the band is recording and producing its first full-length record, Sleep To Grow in Vancouver alongside indie dream team JC/DC (New Pornographers, Destroyer, Tegan and Sara) and John Raham (Frazey Ford).

Take a look at their amazing new video for “Pink Carnations:”

Come see The Belle Game along with Sidney York and The Ruffled Feather October 20th, 2011 at The Railway Club. Tickets are $10 at the door, and all proceeds go to support Media Democracy Day 2011. Confirm that you’re coming today!
