Half Nelson: Squamish

It's beautiful Fall weather and i'm feeling adventurous, maybe a little too adventurous. I have a conference up in Squamish on Social Media and I'm set to present on a panel in front 100 HR professionals.

It's beautiful Fall weather and i'm feeling adventurous, maybe a little too adventurous.

I have a conference up in Squamish on Social Media and I'm set to present on a panel in front 100 HR professionals. There's a get together on the Wednesday night for all of the speakers and Thursday is an all day conference at Quest University. I actually had no idea that there was a University up in Squamish and it is absolutely beautiful, if i could have taken a picture I would have. (we'll get to why not pretty soon)

So i figure, i'm going to be up in Squamish i should definitely take advantage of the outdoors. What have i not done yet that would be interesting? hmmm....I heard there's a beginners mountain biking trail in Squamish. Now i am not a mountain biker at all, but have been curious to try...so i do some research and stumble upon the Half Nelson. Apparently, it has something for all levels...i figured i'd walk the sections that are too challenging for me.

Wednesday morning I was off to the trail.....

The hike up is a 30-40 minute uphill bike ride...be prepared, it's a workout!

As i finally get to the beginning of the trail huffing and puffing i realize that it may be more than a beginner trail...but i went for it anyways!

It was definitely a challenging trail for a novice, but the seasoned mountain bikers i met along the trail, love it!

I made it about half way until i went flying off a low lying bridge into a creek...Ouch!! There were lots of friendly mountain bikers around to help me out. I was able to get up alright, and didn't even have any real scratches. I am very lucky...i did sprain my left arm though and had to walk my bike down the rest of the trail.

I spoke with so many mountain bikers that day and if you are a mountain biker you will love this trail, if you're not you may want to get some practice first or stick to some more easy going trails.
