Ride to the Polls with Bike2Ballots' Adrian Sinclair

Instead of mourning the fact that voting in advance is no longer an option, let's look forward to this Saturday and think about how our elected officials can help to ensure that the Vancouver we live in is an awesome one.

Get Your Vote On will be registering people for rides and hosting “bike stops” in Davie Village, Commercial Drive, Main and East 49th Ave, and Kitsilano from 11am to 7pm on E-Day. We’ll also be able to pick up a limited number of voters from their homes. This fleet of tandem bikes has been generously loaned to us by the fine folks at Spokes Bicycle Rentals, English Bay Bike Rentals, and Reckless Bike Stores!

To register for your Bike2Ballots ride, you can fill out the handy form HERE.

In the days leading up to November 19, Get Your Vote On will be profiling the bike-loving people who want to go all the way with you—to your polling station. Second on the roster is Adrian Sinclair, one of the two lead organizers behind Get Your Vote On this election season.

1. So, Adrian, why is Bike2Ballots awesome?

It was inspired by the fact that in every election, political parties will give anyone a ride to the voting station in a car (just give them a call - they will pick you up!). So we figured: why not give people rides on a tandem bike? Cool, eh?

2. What is your election issue?

Building our city back into the true arts and cultural capital of the Pacific Northwest. That is, taking real measures to set aside truly affordable (maybe co-op housing) studio space for artists in the city.

3. Why is democracy like riding a bike?

Because it's all about balance!
