Every day we share a single photo from our Flickr Pool shot by one of our faithful and talented readers (that’s you!)

Of the people who celebrate Christmas, there seems to be two distinct camps which we inevitably fall into: those who embrace the season fully and get all giddy about the holidays shortly after the Halloween decorations are back under the stairs, and those who resist it entirely until a certain percentage of planning and preparation has been completed. Much to the chagrin of my significant other, I fall into the latter camp, but I digress.

And so this is Christmas, as a wise man once said - and I can hide no longer. This is the first festive photograph featured here this year, and it comes to us courtesy of Blair Dewan, who harnessed some of that wonderful winter light we are blessed with this time of year. The shadow-play is really nice in this image, and creates a strange compression of depth that initially plays tricks on the viewer.

Without further ado, and without even mentioning that this is my 300th post as the editor of the Daily Flickr Pickr, here is Chinatown Santa.

...and speaking of the Daily Flickr Pickr, its time for new blood to take the reigns of this column. If you are passionate about photography, writing and most of all Vancouver, send me a Flickrmail (because you are on Fickr, right?) and tell me why you should be the next Daily Flickr Pickr picker!
