Kwazy made my job a little too easy this week. As soon as I saw this image I knew it was going to be my pick. It's message is a simple but all too important reminder that where we live is awesome and that how we treat it has a massive part in how awesome it is.

"Vancouver: Keep it Spectacular" in not only a collection of words found on the tops of trash cans in the city, it's the name of a volunteer movement of thousands of citizens who come together every May to contribute a bit of elbow grease in aide of adding a little extra shine to our streets. Read about it here, maybe you'll be inspired to captain a cleaning team of your own in 2012.

To be perfectly honest, I think that we do a pretty darn good job of keep our city spectacular all year round. I've been to numerous cities, all over the world and ours is right at the top of my list of the cleanest. Obviously, we can all use a bit of a spring clean and "Keep Vancouver Spectacular" is just the event to get us all in gear for another year of showing our home the respect it deserves!

Thanks so much for this, Kwazy. Yours is a really positive (if not somewhat chilly!)image of a little bit of what makes our city what it is.

Frosty Vancouver

It’s that point in your consciousness where you can feel at one with nature, escaping the trappings of the day-to-day to an almost dream-like place where nothing else seems to exist besides you and your natural surroundings. It is our opinion here at VIA that Vancouver holds a unique place in the civilized world in that reaching this state often requires no more effort than simply pulling off to the side of the road, pocketing your keys and taking a few steps into the forest
