Tales of the Cocktail-Day 1

Tales of the Cocktail is a respite from the everyday for those of us not employed in the liquor industry.

Tales of the Cocktail is a respite from the everyday for those of us not employed in the liquor industry. Let’s start with the people attending; the liquor reps, bartenders, mixologists, media and promotions people are good looking, and have a high level of skill when it comes to flirting. Few of them are dressed for Vancouver’s rainy weather, and I bet you they didn’t take the bus down the Fairmont Pacific Rim for today’s registration. That’s right people- I’ve only gotten as far as registration and I’m hyped.

The main event for Day 1 of TOTC was the 1930s-themed Hollywood North Official Opening Party.

“Taking you back to the 1930s in Vancouver where glamour and excitement filled the air and when US prohibition sent party seekers across the border. Back then you just might bump into stars like Bob Hope and Ginger Rogers, in an era that gave the city its nickname of Hollywood North”

Well I didn’t see those particular stars there, but there was enough sparkle to fill an ice bucket or 10. Vancouverites love to dress up, and with the theme of 1930s Hollywood Glamour, the Rosewood Hotel Georgia was dripping with it. Best of all, cocktails of the era were served. It’s just classier overdoing it on drinks in these cute little glasses.
