sceneandheard SCENE AND HEARD showcases the independent music scene here in Vancouver. We interview some of our favourite local artists, post weekly guest playlists comprised of Vancouver artists and ‘Last Week in Music’ highlights some of the concerts happening around the city…

Two days of amazing bands where I (as well as many others) followed the same pattern: CBC for the Toque Session, Media Club for a show. It worked out swimmingly. Also, I challenge you to figure out where Redbird ends in my photos and where Portage and Main begins. (PS Hope their tour is going well! We miss you guys already!)

THIS WEEK IN MUSIC: begins with this week’s playlist creator Chantel Upshaw at her album release party at the Media Club tonight! Tomorrow head to the very same venue for an intimate night of acoustic performances ft Todd Clark (Pilot Speed), Bed of Stars, Bodhi Jones & Jean-Paul Maurice!. Thursday there are a few concerts to choose from including Vetiver w/ White Ash Falls at the Electric Owl, and David Newberry’s album release show at the Railway. (I will be HERE that night, but can hopefully catch some of the other shows too!) Friday might I suggest WATASUN @ The Media Club w/ Redgy Blackout, Ian House and Alysha Brillinger. And Saturday I INSIST you come to the Sad Mag showL Ginga Ninja… The Dead Voices, Isotopes (with ginger guests!), Colin Cowan & the Elastic Stars, and The Greff Band will all be playing, I will be running a photo booth as well and gingers get in FREE. (PS Happy St Patrick’s Day!!!)
