It was utter mayhem this morning as the Shell station at Main and 2nd Ave randomly announced a "FREE GAS" promotion at around 9:45, ending at 11:30 (sorry!). The lucky patrons who got in line before the traffic jammed up for blocks (we thought we heard honking all the way at our office in Chinatown) were allowed $100 each in free gas in what we can only guess was a promotion to let everybody know that the station is open again after undergoing renovations. Mission accomplished!
