Random Act of Awesomeness: 1-800-Got-Junk DROPS OFF "junk" at our office

A couple of weeks ago I was hipped to an Instagram user named Richard Bender, posting photos under the handle @bender_1800gotjunkvanmetro. Richard is the owner of the Vancouver Metro franchise of 1-800-GOT-JUNK, the company that hauls away your stuff, and I was instantly intrigued by what he was posting. Not at all "junk", but a ton of super interesting collectible stuff, and things that you wouldn't think people would be paying somebody else to haul away. A Peewee Herman ventriloquist doll for one. I also saw a banjo and an electric guitar.

I "Liked" a photo of a Radio Flyer scooter that he posted, then forgot about it. Later that day I got an email from Richard saying that he wanted to give me the thing for my son to ride, and he asked when he could drop by my office. Later that day he was standing in front of me with the thing in his hands, giving it to me. I couldn't believe it.

I don't think a more perfect "random" act of awesomeness has been shared in this column. You can learn more about it, and have a very good chance of having Richard give you some "junk" on their Facebook page RIGHT HERE.
