Inspired by Louis C.K.'s model of offering full-length, downloadable comedy performances for a mere $5 a pop, videographer/producer and ex-comedian Paul Breau decided earlier this year that he wanted to deliver Vancouver's absolutely most funniest humans to the internet. Recording 10 specials during the span of one week at the Waldorf Hotel, the plan is to now release one every Monday for the next few weeks, starting... well... 3 weeks ago now. After the 10 weeks have elapsed, if enough people (people like you) support it by buying them (and subsequently laughing your ass off at them, no doubt) then we'll hopefully see another 10 more, then 10 more, and 10 more after that and into infinity.
I can almost guarantee ALL of the comedians featured (Vancouver's best comedians) in this Live at the Waldorf Hotel series have other jobs aside from telling jokes in front of audiences, on the internet or otherwise. The comedy scene in our city is a finnicky one in that it seems that in order to really make it, you have to leave. The "infinitely valuable" part of Paul's project is that you are able to help to change that sad fact simply by enjoying them: most of the $5 that you'll drop for a DRM-free download that you can keep forever and ever and show as many people as you please, it goes back to the comedians themselves and hopefully will help to keep them here in Vancouver.
