Oftentimes I use my weekly musings through the UNPLUGGED Flickr Pool to help me decide where to spend a great outdoor afternoon in and around the city and this week is no exception.
Somehow, I didn't know this lake existed, which is quite surprising because it's by no means a diminutive body of water. Capilano Lake is in fact one of three of Greater Vancouver's watersheds and some areas which are usually closed to the public can be accessed in the summer months via guided tour, provided by Metro Vancouver .
I know it's there now though and I'm definitely going to be dragging my rather pregnant self there for a visit very soon, I might even venture along the Capilano Pacific Trail to try to get a glimpse of what Chris has shown us here.

It’s that point in your consciousness where you can feel at one with nature, escaping the trappings of the day-to-day to an almost dream-like place where nothing else seems to exist besides you and your natural surroundings. It is our opinion here at VIA that Vancouver holds a unique place in the civilized world in that reaching this state often requires no more effort than simply pulling off to the side of the road, pocketing your keys and taking a few steps into the forest
