Summer Cycling in the City

We're leading the way in making cycling an attractive choice for everyone. Each month V.I.A. provides a platform for us to bring you something awesome involving cycling in the city!

It's a sizzling summer to cycle. Seriously, if you haven't hopped on a bike in a while, now is the time to try! Warning: it may be addictive. Side effects reported to us here include increased happiness, weight loss, a better tan, and getting extra smiles on the street.

Not only is the sun here to tempt you onto a bicycle, if you need a quick primer on how to feel great riding on the road, or fixing your two-wheeled steed, the City of Vancouver and HUB have partnered to provide Streetwise Cycling Courses at only $10 each (that's 80% off regular prices!). Courses cover different levels, including basic rules of the road and riding with traffic all the way to bike maintenance for those ready for the next step.

Heading to the seawall? Try out the permanent separated bike lanes through downtown just like the thousand international delegates did for Velo-city Global when it came to town in late June. Cycling experts from around the world swarmed downtown Vancouver streets with trial Bixi bikes. They had some great things to say about us being a North American leader, and then they had some tough love get moving faster on this! words for us from places where the majority of all trips are taken by bike. We are working at it and the number of people taking up cycling is at a peak right now so don't be shy to come join the crowd!
